AMVs

We once more return to previously introduced Dani for another thing she enjoys doing in her spare time: creating Anime Music Videos, also known as AMVs. She has created several of them, mostly centering around her favorite show, Saiyuki. They are somewhat difficult to make well, and time consuming, but she says "the result is definitely worth it, plus I like getting comments". She posts the videos on Youtube once they are finished, but due to new rules imposed some time ago by Google, sometimes hers and others' videos are taken down. "It's really annoying, and they leave up a bunch of other people's stuff that is just the same. I'm just unlucky I guess." I went through some of the AMVs she made myself, and in my opinion they're actually pretty good. Here's one of them:

Another Introduction and Roleplaying

The newest person to be featured in this blog is Danielle Haines, also known as Dani. She is a twenty year old sophomore and a History major. In her spare time Dani likes to do 'roleplaying'. What is roleplaying? "It's like writing a book with two or more authors," she says. She is in several ongoing online roleplays, one of which has been going on for five years now (even she says that this is unusually long for a roleplay), with over twenty characters. She plays twelve of these characters, and says that it is about them all living in a few houses and interacting over time, in a modern fantasy setting. It takes up a lot of time, but she enjoys it. "Because it's fun, you can come up with your own plot ideas, and get feedback. On top of that it improves your writing."

An Introduction and Anime

For the first post of this blog I found a sophomore named Sidney Bieser. She is an environmental studies major and spends most of her time in her room. What does she do in her free time? Well, for the most part, she watches anime.

Anime can be defined as animation which comes from Japan in the form of television shows and movies. There is a massive variety in genres: action, romance, horror, fantasy, sci-fi, and pretty much anything you can imagine. It is becoming a widespread phenomenon in America, and Sidney watches a great deal of it. She enjoys watching it because "It's a great stress reliever and you wind up learning about a different culture."

She watches a variety of anime, including Yu Yu Hakusho, Fullmetal Alchemist, Romeo x Juliet, Prince of Tennis, Blood+, and Trinity Blood. However, her favorite is Yu Yu Hakusho, an action-oriented show involving battles with spirits and dealing in the afterlife. "I like the overall storyline of good fighting evil," she says.
